Jasper and his friends all think it’s a good morning – I have been out foraging this morning for grass with a huge pair of wallpaper scissors. you can’t beat a bit of fresh grass to give the pigs for breakfast – lots of appreciative squeaks.
Grass is free and really good for them, just make sure its from a place that is not contaminated from road pollution or other animals.

Love the spring – half an hours weeding feeds the pigs – enough sticky weed in the garden picked to feed 60 pigs and a few dandelion for mums and babies
St Austell show – December 2018
Had lovely day at St Austell today – no rosettes but was really pleased that my homebred teddy sow Crunchie won her breed class and came second in u5 coated challenge and my homebred chocolate sow Belinda also won her class and came 3rd in u5 self challenge
Baby Boom – Teddies and Chocolates
Baby boom – Ebony’s litter now 10 days old all chunky healthy little babies (cleaning out hutch hence they in box) and now first time mum Ava now given birth to 4 healthy huge pups (3 sows and a boar). Congrats Ava and Jasper.
The mummy pigs are doing well, feeding the babies and keeping them warm. Great to see each ones character as they grow.
East Cornwall Show – 6th October 2018
Successful day at East Cornwall Show on Saturday – Ralph my cream boar won best self and 3rd best in show. My daughters pigs won 1st and 2nd in 5-8 month pet classes and 4th and 6th best pet overall.
Chocolate Self Babies
The latest additions – Ebony gave birth to 4 healthy babies on 1st October – 3 sows and a boar. Lovely little chocolates.
Chocolate Self Guinea pigs are not the easiest to breed so we are really happy to have these little additions to our family.
Primary School Visit
The gentle giants aka Monster, Joey, Archie and Ratatouille visited local primary school today to teach the children about guinea pigs. After being hand fed a whole pepper each by the children they spent the afternoon relaxing on the grass enjoying the late summer sunshine – a surprise 20 degrees here
Beetroot is back
Beetroot is back , happy red faces in pig shed today. Got couple of lovely big sacks from Total Produce in Bodmin – never seen such huge beetroots !!
Beetroot is a good source of fibre, folate (vitamin B9), manganese, potassium, iron and vitamin C.
Very happy piggies
